Bermuda Amateur Stroke Play Championships
The 1st round of the Bermuda Amateur Stroke Play Championships got underway today [June 23] at Port Royal Golf Course.
A spokesperson said, “After an early morning shower, the conditions improved in time for the start of the first tee time. Although a little steamy, the light winds made for favourable scoring conditions.
“In the Ladies Division, Vanessa Chychrun is leading the field with a round of 74 followed by Ebonie Cox with a 78. In the Senior Ladies Division, Tracy Burgess the defending champion came in with an 81 and is followed in 2nd place by Linda Down.
“In the Senior Men’s Division, Rod Forrest set the pace with a solid one-over par round of 72, closely followed by Hav Trott with a 73 and Chris Phillips who shot 75.
“As expected, the Men’s Championship Division produced some low scores, with Will Haddrell coming in with a three-under 68 to take the lead, followed closely by Damian Palanyandi with a 69 and Jarryd Dillas and Oliver Betschart one shot back with 70.
“The 2nd round gets underway at 7.00am and promises to provide plenty of excitement.
