Government House hosted a party to celebrate the 75th birthday of King Charles III.
Government House posted the photos online below, and said, “Yesterday Her Excellency the Governor was joined by more than 400 guests at Government House to celebrate the 75th Birthday of His Majesty The King. Guests included first-time guests, online application winners, representatives from charities and volunteer groups, and VIPs from all walks of life.
“To mark the first time that we have celebrated His Majesty The King’s birthday on the grounds of Government House, we enjoyed the pomp and ceremony of the Royal Bermuda Regiment’s Band and Corps of Drums, Steel Pans, and an electrifying performance by the Places Gombey Troupe.
“In her remarks, the Governor noted that the 22nd of June was also the 75th anniversary of the arrival in the UK of the HMT Empire Windrush, which brought more than 800 people from the Caribbean to the UK in 1948, and celebrated the links that the Windrush had with Bermuda, its final stop before docking in Tilbury.
“A toast was raised to His Majesty, before a Union Jack made up of cupcakes was carried outside for guests to enjoy.
“And as the celebration drew to a close the Royal Bermuda Regiment Band and Corps of Drums performed a Mini ‘Beating the Retreat’ as the Governor’s Standard was lowered during the sunset ceremony.”
