Erica Hawley Wins Triathlon Cup Montreal
Erica Hawley made a highly impressive showing today [July 8] to win her first elite race, claiming victory at the Americas Triathlon Cup Montreal.
The Bermudian finished the 778-metre swim in 10min 17 sec, the 20.2km bike in 30:03 and the 5km run in 16:53 for an overall time of 58:15.
The race included a field of elite athletes from Canada, United States, Chile, Japan, Mexico and New Zealand, with Maiira Carreau of Canada came second in 58:22 and Anja Krueger placed third in 58:23.
Ms Hawley posted the image below on Instagram, and said “I did it, my first elite win! It’s not every day you get to break the tape and hear Hail to Bermuda in the medal ceremony. I will cherish this moment….a big, big thank you to all the people – you know who you are.”
