Slaton To Lead Indiana Tech’s Archery Program
Bermudian Tiffany Slaton has been appointed as the head coach of the Indiana Tech Archery program.
The Indiana Tech Warriors website said, “Tiffany Slaton has been tabbed as the head coach of the Indiana Tech Archery program, Director of Athletics Jessie Biggs announced.”
“Tiffany brings a wealth of knowledge and competitive experience to our Archery coaching position. She is a tremendous competitor and has a considerable amount of experience and teaching to offer our Archery student-athletes. We look forward to watching the program grow on our campus and throughout our community!” Biggs said.
“Before coaching, I completed 4 years of training as a traditional Barebow archer, gaining experience before moving to recurve and training in NTS [archery's national training system] for 3 years with the renowned Danny Pincus.” Slaton said.
“He inspired me to become an archery instructor. Being both Bermudian and American, I took my archery to both places landing me a job with MWS Smashing arrows designing archery ranges and a position on Bermuda’s national archery team. 3 years later, I ranked high enough to be chosen for the Natwest Island Games in 2017, with our team Bermuda taking silver as the island’s first set of archery medals before pausing to complete my residency as a renal dialysis technician and nutritionist.”
“Archery is a sport and a martial art. It is a lifestyle that allows me to connect with both of my cultures and my team. For some colleges striking the right balance between educational and athletic goals can be difficult, but I have had no such difficulties at Tech.
“Once I started collaborating with the staff and met Director Biggs, I felt right at home in the warrior lifestyle as they push me to better myself in archery. I look forward to growing Indiana Tech’s archery program and getting to know Fort Wayne better as the institution’s ethos and community have instantly made me feel welcome.”
