Consultation Document On Corporate Income Tax

The Government has issued a public consultation paper on the possibility of introducing a corporate income tax to apply to Bermuda businesses that are part of Multinational Enterprise Groups with annual revenue of €750M [$821M] or more, with the consultation period set to run until 8th September 2023.

The Government said, “This consultation paper has been formulated to get public feedback on current considerations for appropriate action by the Government of Bermuda in response to the OECD Pillar Two initiative, based on all of the advice received to date. The Government looks forward to receiving feedback from all stakeholders on the following important consultation paper.

“The consultation period will run from 8th August 2023 to 8th September 2023. Submissions received after this date may not be considered. Consultation Paper Responses should be submitted by email to: cjanderson@gov.bm. Respondents should include ‘Introduction of Corporate Income Tax in Bermuda’ in the subject box.”

    Wow, a whole month, not just a few days.

    Of course, that announcement that the consultation period started on 8 August was not made until 10 August, thus reducing the effective consultation period by 2 days.

    Here is an idea for Burt. Instead of coming up with hairbrained time wasting ideas 9n how to extract money out of businesses and the regular people, how about doing something about the waste right under his nose in the bloated CS.

    The IB executives have better things to do with their time than sit around a table with Burt as he is more interested in fooling with his phone than listening to them.
