Police Confirm Death Of Kirk Butterfield
The police have identified the victim of this morning’s [Aug 28] road traffic collision as 54-year-old Treadwell Kirkland Butterfield, marking the twelfth road fatality of 2023.
A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the identity of the victim in this morning’s fatal road traffic collision as 54-year-old Treadwell Kirkland Butterfield.
“Mr. Butterfield was reportedly traveling west on Cavendish Road near the junction of Shelton Road, Devonshire, when he apparently lost control of the motorcycle he was riding and collided with the kerb.
“He was ejected from the motorcycle and landed on the roadway where he was found in an unresponsive state by police officers who were dispatched to the scene.
“Mr. Butterfield sustained a serious head injury in the collision and officers commenced CPR until the arrival of Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service personnel, who continued life-saving efforts. Mr. Butterfield was transported to King Edward Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
“The Bermuda Police Service extends its condolences to Mr. Butterfield’s family and loved ones. A BPS Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to assist them during this difficult time.
“An investigation into this, the twelfth road fatality of the year, has now begun. Anyone who may have witnessed or, who may have any information on this incident, is asked to contact Police Constable Junior Warner on 717-2372 or via email at jwarner@bps.bm.
