Thompson, who is yet to make her international debut, will bring a wealth of experience to coach Naquita Robinson’s squad, having played for several teams in Liga F – the top-flight in Spain.

The 22-year-old signed a new one-year contract for Eibar last summer and has previously played for Espanyol, Deportivo de La Coruña and Santa Teresa.

Thompson, the daughter of Kenny Thompson, the Bermuda men’s senior national team assistant coach, also spent a season at London City Lionesses in the FA Women’s Championship, the second tier in England.

In an interview with Bernews in July, Thompson spoke of her desire to represent Bermuda.

“Bermuda is my home, and it would be great to represent my country,” she said. “I’m never going to rule that out. Let’s see what the future holds.”

Bermuda sit top of group C with ten points from four games and face St Vincent and the Grenadines on December 1 at home before playing second-place Dominican Republic away four days later.

The winner of the group will advance to a play-off where they will meet one of the second-place teams from League A, with the victors qualifying for the W Gold Cup in the United States from February 20 to March 10.
