Christopher Joined By Cast In Jelly’s Last Jam
The complete cast for Jelly’s Last Jam, starring Bermudian actor Nicholas Christopher, has been for set, with the bio-musical running from February 21 to March 3 at the New York City Centre.
The show, produced by Encores!, celebrates the life and music of Ferdinand Joseph LaMothe, known professionally as Jelly Roll Morton, an American ragtime and jazz pianist, bandleader, and composer.
Christopher, who has recently starred in Broadway musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street as rival barber Adolfo Pirelli, will play Jelly Roll Morton.
Joining the cast is Okieriete Onaodowan, playing ragtime cornetist Buddy Bolden, with Alaman Diadhiou taking on the role of Young Jelly.
Jelly’s Last Jam, written by George C Wolfe, is set to Morton’s iconic music, with lyrics by Susan Birkenhead. Robert O’Hara will direct the production.
