Dr Carlton C. Crockwell Sr, the chairman and chief executive of Security Associates Limited, said he was delighted to have secured a five-year sponsorship partnership with the Skyport Magic Mile.
Security Associates, a security management company formed in 2010, will sponsor the SA Kids Village at the Flora Duffy Stadium for the second year on Saturday [March 2].
Youngsters attending the annual junior race, organised by the Bermuda Pacers Track Club, will be able to enjoy an assortment of bouncy castle experiences, including an obstacle course and a climbing wall at the SA Kids Village.
Dr Crockwell, who has enjoyed a career in security for more than 35 years, said the company’s commitment to the ever-popular race is an integral part of their annual corporate social responsibility investment.
“Last year’s event was phenomenal,” Dr Crockwell told Bernews. “Once the youngsters had finished their race, there was so much for them to do at the Kids Village – it was lovely to see.
“There’s a great synergy between this event and our ethos. Our company was founded by Paul Field, who is now retired, and he believed in the importance of family. We’re a company that supports family events.”
Dr Crockwell, who will again attend the event, stressed the importance of investing in the island’s youth.
“This event is a great way for children to come together, participate, and be part of something positive and healthy,” he said.
“The kids are our future, and it’s lovely to see so many parents and grandparents come out and support the kids.”
He added: “Let’s pack the stadium because I could see how much that inspired the runners last year.
“You could see kids pick up their speed when they saw a parent cheering them on. I hope Bermuda comes out and supports this event.”
