Sol Delighted To Sponsor Magic Mile Timing
Che Barker, the Sol Petroleum Bermuda Limited retail sales executive, said he is delighted the company will be the timing sponsor for the Skyport Magic Mile on Saturday [March 2].
Mr Barker told Bernews: “Sol Petroleum, along with our Esso service stations, has always felt part of the community, so it’s great for us to be out here as the timing sponsor.
“Speaking of time, when you come out [to the Skyport Magic Mile], make sure you spend some extra time because there’s going to be some amazing events out here, so register your kid today for the Skyport Magic Mile, presented by the Bermuda Pacers Track Club.”
The Sol Group, a member of Parkland, is the leading supplier of energy solutions in the Caribbean.
Launched in 1995 by Pacers, the Skyport Magic Mile will be held at the Flora Duffy Stadium from noon and is open for boys and girls aged 4 to 15.
The 4 to 5-year-old boys and girls will run one lap of the track; the 6 to 7-year-old boys and girls will run two laps; the 8 to 9-year-old boys and girls will run three laps; and all other age groups will run four laps.
Awards will be presented at the end of each race, including free T-shirts for all competitors. Running spikes are not permitted.
Among the entertainment throughout the day will be the One Comm Family Zone, featuring face painting, caricature portraits by local artist Carlos Santana, free cotton candy, and lots of giveaways, including the One Comm Pomm Pomm Station, to help cheer on the runners.
Youngsters can also enjoy bouncy castle experiences, including an obstacle course and a climbing wall at the Security Associates Kids’ Village.
There will also be a food truck row and a youth vendor market place, presented by Orange Bay Company.
Organisers will hope for a bumper turnout of participants and improve on the 808 runners from 2022 and 906 from last year.
Registration, costing $15 plus, is open until 6 pm on Friday, March 1.
