Traffic Notice For BBA Team Time Trial Race
The Government issued a traffic notice for the Bermuda Bicycle Association Team Time Trial Road Race scheduled on Sunday [March 17].
A spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform motorists that the Bermuda Bicycle Association Team Time Trial Road Race will occur on Sunday, March 17th, 2024, between 7:30 am and 9:30 am. The following roads will be affected:
Race Route:
“The bicycle race commences at the Old Paget Post Office on Middle Road in Paget and heads westerly through Warwick and Southampton parishes to Barnes Corner. The riders then turn left at Barnes Corner onto South Road, heading back through Warwick and Paget parishes to Bermuda College on South Road. An alternate route is in place if the original course becomes unusable due to unforeseeable circumstances. The route would be amended to allow the participants to traverse west on Middle Road to head over Lighthouse Road to South Road before proceeding to the finish line at Bermuda College.
Traffic Control:
“The bicycle road race will commence on Sunday, March 17th, 2024, at 7:30 am and is expected to conclude by 9.30 am. The race route will be under the control of road marshals. There will be four marshals at the start and finish locations and two at the junction of Lighthouse Road and South Road.
Road closures:
“There will be no road closures. All motorists are expected to use caution and avoid collisions with race participants. Motorists are asked to follow the instructions given by the race marshals to assist with traffic control for this event.
“The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full cooperation of the motoring public and apologizes for any inconvenience that may result. Should there be any questions regarding this event, please direct queries to the attention of the race representative, Peter Dunne, at #704-8614.
“In addition, the Bermuda police are hereby authorized to “Close-Off” streets or portions of streets and authorize parking as the Commissioner of Police decides.”
