Bermuda Swimmers Win More Carifta Medals
Bermuda’s swimmers enjoyed more medal success on the second day of the Carifta Aquatics Championships in Nassau, the Bahamas, yesterday [March 31].
Having won five medals on the opening day, including a pair of golds, the island’s swimmers followed up with a nine-medal haul on day two of the annual competition to take their overall tally to 14.
Madelyn Moore continued her fine form by claiming her second gold after winning the girls 18 and over 50 metres butterfly in 27.47sec.
Moore also won gold in the 50 backstroke in 29.53 on the opening night on Saturday.
Also in the girls 18 and over, Logan Watson-Brown grabbed gold in the 100 backstroke in 1:03.86, adding to her silver in the 50 backstroke the previous night when she finished runner-up to Moore [30.01].
Elijah Daley won silver in the boys 15-17 100 backstroke in 1:00.18. He also won bronze in the 50 butterfly in 25.45.
Meanwhile, Rory Shepherd, who won bronze in the 11-12 boys 50 backstroke in 32.18 on Saturday, claimed another bronze after coming third in the 100 backstroke in 1:10.96.
In the boys 13-14, Connor Hupman followed up his gold in the 50 backstroke [28.33] on Saturday by securing silver in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.92 and the 200 freestyle in 2:00.96.
Marleigh Howes won bronze in the girls 15 and over 200 freestyle, clocking a time of 2:11.44; meanwhile, Katherine Wheddon scooped silver in the girls 13-14 200 freestyle in 2:14.63.
Adriana Argent won silver in the girls 15-17 800 freestyle in 10:19.37 on Saturday.
