Chatmore Partners With Urban Construction
Chatmore announced a partnership with Urban Construction Services [UCS] as part of their Dynamic Learning Weeks initiative.
A spokesperson said, “Chatmore is proud to share an exciting partnership with Urban Construction Services [UCS], a leading name in the industry who matches Chatmore’s mission of enhancing learning experiences and inspiring a love for learning. This collaboration is part of Chatmore’s ongoing Dynamic Learning Weeks initiative, which aims to provide students with immersive, real-world experiences that bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
“Chatmore’s recent Dynamic Learning Week saw students engaging in carpentry, driveway maintenance and painting. Students had the privilege of restoring historic woodwork on Chatmore’s listed building, learning about Bermudian architecture and craft.
“Since the commencement of this programme in 2020, Chatmore’s Dynamic Learning Weeks have become a cornerstone of the school’s commitment to innovative education. This program empowers students to apply their classroom learning to real-world scenarios, fostering a deeper understanding of academic concepts and building essential practical skills. Beyond this, it allows time within the school year to build community and collaboration toward strengthening the soft skills most desired by employers. The partnership with UCS began in 2022 and encourages students to become involved in a career that is often overlooked but involves math, design, engineering and more.
“As part of this unique collaboration, students at Chatmore will have the opportunity to engage in small and larger scale construction projects, including the creation of a playhouse and workbench tailored for primary-aged students. Students have also built tables and chairs for our common eating areas. This experience not only allows students to gain practical skills in construction but also cultivates teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity—essential qualities for success in the 21st century.
“UCS brings a wealth of expertise and industry knowledge to the partnership, ensuring that students receive valuable insights into the construction process. The collaboration between UCS and Chatmore underscores the importance of fostering connections between the education sector and industries that play a crucial role in shaping the built environment. This has been a longstanding pillar of Chatmore, utilising community experts to enhance learning as early as possible.”
“We are thrilled to partner with Chatmore for their Dynamic Learning Weeks initiative,” said a spokesperson for UCS. “This collaboration aligns perfectly with our commitment to education and community engagement. By providing students with the opportunity to participate in real-world construction projects, we hope to inspire the next generation of builders, architects, and innovators.”
A spokesperson from Chatmore expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “At Chatmore, we believe in the power of real-world learning experiences to not only enrich a child’s future, but also their present. Young people are very capable and when they are inspired to achieve more, we are often surprised by the outcome!” As Chatmore continues to pioneer innovative learning initiatives, this collaboration with UCS promises to be a transformative experience for students, preparing them for success in a rapidly evolving world.”
