Archers To Compete In Olympic Qualifiers
[Written by Stephen Wright]
Three Bermudian archers will compete for the first time at an Olympic qualifier for an individual and team spot at the Paris Games this summer.
Senior archers Camerin Pickering, Bernard Wade III and junior Jaydon Roberts have travelled to Medellín, Colombia, for the Olympic Games Continental Qualifier for the Americas, which starts on Sunday [April 7].
They will be in action in the recurve men’s competition, shooting 72 arrows at 70 metres on a 122 centimetre target face.
Pickering is already eligible for a universality berth for small nations at Paris after achieving the qualification score at the Hyundai Archery World Cup Stage 4 in the French capital in August last year.
For almost a decade, the National Archery Association of Bermuda coaches Ross Roberts and Trina Roberts have been coaching, developing and building the sport on the island as part of the Long-term Archer Development Plan.
