Former Bermuda footballer Taurean Manders believes he is ready for the next step in coaching after gaining his Uefa B license with the Football Association of Wales.
The 37-year-old had already passed his English Football Association Level 1 and 2 badges and said he intends to complete his Uefa A license in the future.
“The opportunity came for me to get back into coaching at the FAB Academy [in Buckinghamshire, England], and from there, I started getting my badges,” said Manders, who coached briefly at the IMG Academy Bradenton in Florida more than a decade ago.
“I went to Cardiff one Sunday every month for seven months from September until March before having three assessment days.
“The ultimate plan is to coach at the highest level I can. There’s a process to it.”
A former professional player with Capital City and York Region Shooters in the Canadian Soccer League, Manders returned to Bermuda recently and is keen to combine his coaching knowledge with his master’s degree in sports psychology.
“I’d like to get involved with a local programme and help develop younger players,” the former midfielder added.
“I’d like to become a sports psychologist as well. It may take a few more years to get my qualification. I can practice as a sports psychologist under supervision.”
