Dame Flora Duffy Counting Down To Paris

Dame Flora Duffy believes she is edging closer to top form after finishing eighth at the World Triathlon Championship Series Cagliari, Italy, yesterday [May 25].
Duffy, who came seventh at the WTCS Yokohama in Japan this month – her first race in 18 months because of a knee injury – completed the standard-distance course [1.5-kilometre swim, 38 bike and 10km run] in Cagliari in 1hr 48min 08sec.
It was Duffy’s final race before the defence of her Olympic title at the Paris Games on July 31.
“It might not look it from the outside, but there were lots of positives to take away from today,” Duffy wrote on Instagram yesterday.
“Except for my first lap of the run. Thankfully, I found my run legs eventually. Finished up 8th place.
“Today was a reminder of how much the Olympic dream means to so many.
“Although I did not have Olympic selection on the line today, many did. So many emotions. I admire all those who dreamt, pursued, and put themselves out there.
“9 weeks to Paris! I’ll be making the most of each one.”
