Kenni Thompson Scores In Cup Final Win
Kenni Thompson scored a penalty to help AFC Bournemouth Women retain the Adopt South Women’s Hampshire Senior Cup today [May 13].
Thompson opened the scoring from the spot in the sixteenth minute in her side’s 3-1 win over Southampton Under-21s Pro Games Academy at the EBB Stadium.
It was the Bermuda winger’s eighth goal in all competitions since joining Bournemouth from top-flight Spanish side Eibar in January.
Kaylee Buckingham levelled for Southampton in the 38th minute before Lucy Cooper bundled in a corner on the stroke of half-time to restore Bournemouth’s lead.
In stoppage time, Erin Bloomfield headed home to make it 3-1.
Bournemouth missed out on promotion from the Women’s National League Division One South West despite finishing the league campaign unbeaten.
