BCB Launches Women’s T10 Cricket League
The Bermuda Cricket Board launched the Women’s T10 Cricket Competition, a “groundbreaking event set to energize the local cricket scene and promote women’s sports on the island.”
A spokesperson said, “This highly anticipated competition marks a significant milestone in the development of women’s cricket in Bermuda.
“Women’s cricket in Bermuda is undergoing a remarkable time, and we are honoured to be giving these amazing athletes a stage on which to display their skills. In addition to showcasing the talent and commitment of our female cricket players, this league will also inspire young girls to pursue taking up the sport all throughout the island.
“The League will feature the defending champions, Devonshire Rec Sports Club, along with Somerset Bridge Recreation Club, Western Stars Sports Club, and Warwick Workmen’s Club. Each team will battle through six rounds playing each team twice, bringing electrifying cricket action to fans and families alike.”
Calvin Blankendal, BCB Executive Director said, “We take this time to thank the Bermuda Police Service for providing Police Field, as the 2024, Women’s League Venue. We encourage the cricket community to come out and support our women’s teams, by bringing your families and the next generation of female players.”
The spokesperson said, “In a thrilling addition, the Bermuda Cricket Board is also reintroducing the Women’s T20 Cricket League, which will commence following the conclusion of the T10 league. The upcoming T20 league is set to build on the momentum of the T10 matches. This expansion highlights the board’s dedication to fostering growth and providing more opportunities for women in cricket. The T20 league will further elevate the level of competition and excitement for both female players and fans. The 2024 season will see both T10 and T20 league formats being played to encourage maximum participation.”
