Carey Olsen Delighted Erica Hawley Qualifies
Law firm Carey Olsen Bermuda Limited has congratulated triathlete Erica Hawley for qualifying for the upcoming 2024 Olympics in Paris.
A spokesperson said, “Bermudian triathlete and the first recipient of the Carey Olsen Bermuda Limited inaugural Athletics Sponsorship, Erica Hawley, has qualified to represent Bermuda in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games this summer. 26-year-old Erica has competed professionally for six years and became a full-time professional athlete in 2022. She is one of only two Bermudian women to rank in the World Triathlon Elite Women rankings.
“With the firm’s support, Erica spent six weeks this year taking part in races across Australia, China, the UK, Uzbekistan, Italy and the US to gain the points required for Olympic qualification. She will be among 55 female competitors alongside fellow Bermuda triathletes Dame Flora Duffy and Tyler Smith who take to the start line in the women’s race on 31 July.”
Carey Olsen partner Gavin Woods said, “Qualifying for the Olympics is an incredible achievement and we are delighted that Erica has earned the points she needs to fulfil her dream of competing in the Games. Since we started supporting Erica last year, we have avidly watched her sporting journey and how determinedly she has worked towards this goal. Our full support is with Erica as she continues training, and we look forward to watching her compete this summer.”
Ms. Hawley commented, “Qualifying for the Olympics has been a long-time dream of mine, and I am so happy to have finally achieved it. Travelling and competing around the world has been a whirlwind, but also the most incredible experience. I am very grateful to Carey Olsen for their support in helping me to race internationally to achieve the points I needed to qualify. Now I look forward to taking a break from racing and turning all my attention to training for this huge moment in my professional career.”
