Police Confirm: Female Dies After Shooting

[Updated] A female has died following a shooting, the police have confirmed,

A police spokesperson said, “Shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024, police and other first responders were dispatched to a residence on South Terrace, Pembroke following a report of a female having been found with a gunshot wound.

“Upon their arrival, officers immediately commenced life saving efforts on the victim who was unresponsive but breathing. She was shortly thereafter transported by ambulance to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where at last check she continued to receive treatment for her injury which is being considered life threatening.

“An investigation into this matter has now commenced. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Inspector Clifford Roberts on 717-0590 or, via e-mail at, croberts2@bps.bm.

“You may also call 211, the main police number 295-0011 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers number, 800-8477. You are also urged if you prefer, to share the information with a police officer you know.

“We are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who resides on South Terrace or its environs and who may have heard or seen any suspicious activity in the area shortly before or after 12:30 a.m. today.

“We want to hear from you, no matter how insignificant you think that information might be.”

Update 12.20pm: Minister of National Security Michael Weeks said, “We are all deeply concerned about the continued violence in our community.

“Today’s incident is yet another heartbreaking reminder of the urgency with which we must address this issue. We are keeping the victim and her family in our thoughts at this time.

“This pattern of violence cannot be allowed to continue. As the Bermuda Police Service works to investigate this and other incidents, we must take a stand against such acts as a community. We must promote an environment where violence is neither tolerated nor ignored.

“I am calling on all residents, especially those in the South Terrace area, to come forward with any information that could aid the police in their investigation.

“Your input, no matter how small it may seem, could be crucial in ensuring justice and preventing further violence.”

Update 8.14pm: A police spokesperson said, “Sadly, the Bermuda Police Service, [BPS] can now confirm that the female victim involved in the firearms incident which occurred around 12:39 a.m. on Friday, June 7th, 2024 at a Pembroke residence, has succumbed to her injuries.

“Her death is now being investigated as a murder. A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to assist the relatives of the deceased during this difficult time.

“Again, the BPS are seeking the public’s assistance with the investigation.
