Emma And Jack Harvey To Swim At Olympics
Siblings Emma and Jack Harvey will represent Bermuda in swimming at the Olympic Games in Paris next month, the Bermuda Olympic Association has confirmed.
Emma punched her ticket after winning the 100 metres backstroke B final at the recent Mare Nostrum Barcelona in 1min 01.21sec; meanwhile, Jack hit the standard after stopping the clock in 55.19 in the 100 backstroke in the preliminaries at the recent AP Race London International.
The pair, who represented the island at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, last year and the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022, will compete at the Paris La Défense Arena in Paris.
This means that the island will be represented by at least seven athletes in four sports at the upcoming Olympic Games, as triathletes Dame Flora Duffy, Erica Hawley and Tyler Smith; rower Dara Alizadeh; and sailor Adriana Penruddocke have already qualified, and it is possible that additional athletes may be announced in the coming days as the final qualification period for archery and track and field comes to a close.
Congrats, well done to both of them. I hope they do well, and are proud of their achievement of representing their nations. Represent with pride, we are behind you and rooting for you!!!! Godspeed and good luck!!!!
