Scott Barnes Targets Podium In Pro Tour

Karting driver Scott Barnes aims to build on his promising start to the Skusa Pro Tour when he races in the SpringNationals at the Motorsports Country Club of Cincinnati this week.
Barnes, who competes in the Shifter Masters class, won the pre-final and final in the opening round and the pre-final in the second round of the WinterNationals in Orlando, Florida, in March.
The Bermudian leads his class standings but knows he can ill afford any slips up in the third and fourth rounds.
“We need to be consistent and have no DNFs,” Barnes told Bernews. “I need some podium finishes in the finals and pre-finals.”
Barnes endured a disappointing round in the Stars Championship Series in New Castle, Indiana, last weekend, suffering a mechanical issue, a disqualification because his team used the wrong tyres, and a DNF.
“That was our first misstep of the year,” said Barnes, who races for Maranello Kart USA.
“It didn’t feel good. We’re looking to put that behind us and return to winning ways this weekend.”
Racing starts on Friday [June 14], with practice before round three on Saturday and round four on Sunday.
The SummerNationals, rounds five and six, will be held at New Castle Motorsports Park from July 26 to 28.
Barnes is sponsored by Butterfield & Vallis, representing their Powerade brand.
