“Simons attends Warwick Academy and will graduate in 2026, when he plans to attend university in the UK to study marketing, multimedia, video production and graphic design. ABIC is hosting him in collaboration with SkillCraft Bermuda, a registered charity that provides high school students with meaningful work experience and training, with a focus on marketing and social media skills.”
Lodge said: “My career objective is to become a policy analyst in economics, where I can develop and implement effective economic policies to help my local community. At ABIC, I have begun to develop many of the analytical and communication skills needed to reach my career aspirations. I have also learned the key role ABIC plays in the retention of International Business in Bermuda and I have appreciated being part of projects that will help the island maintain its economic status.” He is expected to graduate in the class of 2027.
Steinhoff, who will graduate in 2025, said: “ABIC is helping me learn practical skills that I will need to succeed post-graduation. Since I became an intern for the association, I now have a deeper understanding and appreciation for the International Business sector that is a cornerstone of our economy.”
Simons said: “I’m really enjoying the learning at both SkillCraft and at ABIC. SkillCraft is teaching me what to do, while working at ABIC affords me the opportunity to put into practice what I’m learning at SkillCraft, as well as my own knowledge and things that I like to do.”
Wayne Smith, Executive Director of ABIC, said: “ABIC is pleased to partner with stakeholders like the Government and SkillCraft, to develop young people and expose them to careers in international business. This is part of our work to build up the Bermudian talent pool. The summer intern programme is part of the International Business is Everybody’s Business Campaign, one of the aims of which is to reach career shifters, university students and high school students, to teach them about international business.”
The spokesperson said, “During their internship work with ABIC, Steinhoff will focus on data and analytics, while Lodge and Simons will focus on marketing, communications and stakeholder outreach. The interns will also have opportunities to spend time at ABIC member companies, to gain exposure to international businesses [IB].”
