Jr Caribbean Squash Championships Underway
Bermuda junior squash players took to the court for day one of the annual Junior Caribbean Squash Championships in Tortola, British Virgin Islands.
Number one seed, Mason Smith breezed through to the second round in the boy’s under 11 division, he took 16 minutes to defeat Ashston Starkey from the British Virgin Islands 11-3, 11-2, 11-3. Number two seed in the division, Benjamin Sherratt advanced as well 11-2, 11-3, 11-4 against Jaden Emery from Jamaica. George Qureshi defeated Jaxon James 11-3, 11-2, 11-1.
In the under 13 boy’s division, James Bigley defeated Coen Mack from Trinidad in a five-setter, 8-11, 11-6, 8-11, 11-5, 11-6.
In the boys under 15 boy’s division Michael Schrah went down to Aien Defreitas from St. Vincent 9-11, 1-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-9, number two seed in the division Owen Rosoreea defeated Ethan Mohamed from St, Vincent 11-2, 11-1, 11-0.
In the boy’s under 17 division, Rocco Adderley went down to Zevieh Abraham from St. Vincent, and William Frith defeated Kai Shepard from Barbados 12-10, 8-11, 4-11, 11-9, 11-8.
In the boy’s under 19 division after receiving a bye, Andrew Cox went down to Mohryan Baksh from Guyana 11-6, 11-3, 11-4, Ethan Rosorea defeated Alexander Dailey from Cayman Islands 12-10, 11-3, 11-7.
In the girls under 13 division Taylor Kyme went down to Caeli George 13-11, 11-4, 11-8.
In the girls under 15 division, McKenna Kyme went down to Lilly Smit from St. Vincent 11-6, 6-11, 11-9, 11-7.
Olivia Serratt went down in her girls under 17 division match 11-7, 8-11, 6-11, 13-11, 11-6 to Milanna Lamontage from the Cayman Islands. Somerse Stevenson defeated Rylee Rodrigues from Guyana 12-10, 3-11, 11-6, 9-11, 12-10.
In the girls under 19 division, Gabrielle Turchiaro defeated Nadira Morgan from St. Vincent 9-11, 11-4, 11-4, 11-4, and Tyler Komposch went down 11-8, 9-11, 11-5, 8-11, 12-10 to Sanjana Nallapati from Jamaica.
