Bermudian motorcycle racer Aeziah Divine said he learned plenty from his experience racing as a guest rider for Sencat Talent Team – Mortimer Racing in the R&G Talent Cup at the iconic Brands Hatch in Kent, England, at the weekend.
The 14-year-old stood in for injured rider Alexander Rowan in the fourth leg of the Moto3 class competition.
Divine previously raced for British development team Microlise Cresswell Racing in the opening two rounds of the eight-race series.
Divine, who lives in Oxford, finished in 25th place in qualifying before coming 23rd in race one and 21st in race two.
“Overall, this was a bit of a rough weekend for me,” he wrote on social media.
“It was a big effort getting to grips with the circuit, but progress was made every time I went out. I learned a lot and really enjoyed it.
“In race two, I focused on improving at Hawthorn Bend as I found out I was braking for too long.
“The team and I spoke about how I could improve my braking technique before the race, and I was able to shave off a second.”
He added: “I followed the riders in the back group until lap three when they started to break away from me.
“Shortly after that Clayton Edmunds overtook me and I was able to get a tow helping me to get my best lap time and see some areas for improvement.
“I found it hard to find the right lines so having Clayton ahead of me was valuable.
“I was losing a lot of time coming down Paddock Hill but dropped some time going into Druids, putting in consistent lap times until the end of the race. I finished the race in P21 and am happy with that.”
“Thanks again to everybody from Mortimer Racing – Victoria House Academy for everything over the weekend and the opportunity to re-join the championships for two rounds.”
