Bay Defeat Cleveland In Eastern Counties
Delray Rawlins hit a century to help Bailey’s Bay defend their Eastern Counties crown after defeating challengers Cleveland County by 142 runs at Lord’s yesterday [July 20].
The champions won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 304 all out off 65 overs, with Rawlins, the Bermuda national team captain, scoring a brisk 138 off 129 balls.
According to the statistics on CricHQ, he was supported by Tre Manders, who scored 81 off 108 balls, as part of a 128-run fourth-wicket stand.
Seam bowler Mackih McGowan, the Cleveland captain, produced a superb spell, claiming seven for 93 from 17.1 overs.
In reply, Cleveland were dismissed for 162 off 36.5 overs, with Zeri Tomlinson scoring 48 and Dion Stovell hitting 35.
Seam bowler Zeko Burgess, four for 50, and slow left-arm bowler Derrick Brangman, four for 63, were the pick of the bowlers for Bay.
Bay will face St David’s in the second round at Lord’s on August 17.
