[Written by Stephen Wright]
Twin brothers Che and Cole Durham stepped between the ropes for amateur boxing matches in Santa Cruz, Aruba, yesterday [July 27].
Cole, fighting at 80kg, faced Aruban Arvin Solognier in the co-main event at the Manuelitos Sports Bar, with the contest ending in a controversial draw.
Meanwhile, Che, fighting at 72kg, lost by a split decision to Jady Gogulski, of Curaçao.
Both bouts were organised by the World Kickboxing Association. Cole’s bout was three two-minute rounds and Che’s was three two-minute rounds.
Garon Wilkinson, the Bermuda Sashou Association president, told Bernews: “Cole completely dominated his opponent, but they called it a draw. I was baffled.”
He added: “I thought Che’s fight could have gone either way, but he did very well.
“This was great preparation for the Pan Am Wushu Championships [in Santa Clara, California, next month].”
