Nahki Wells Welcomes Competition At City
Nahki Wells has welcomed the increased competition for places at Sky Bet Championship side Bristol City this season.
City have boosted their attacking options after signing striker Fally Mayulu from Austrian team Rapid Vienna for $3,200,000 [£2,500,000].
Wells, 34, has been training alongside Mayula and Japanese forward Yu Hirakawa, another new capture, in pre-season training in Portugal and believes both players will make an impact.
“Yu and Fally, two new great additions, two players who are going to bring a lot to the squad,” Wells told Bristol Live.
“I think everyone’s quite certain of that, and looking forward to working with them.
“We can already see the quality they both bring, and we can be positive about things moving forward.
“Fally will be a competitor of mine, but this is a squad game, we all need each other to propel – so I’ll be pushing him, he’ll be pushing me, along with Tommy, along with Belly and Corns, other players who can play in these attacking positions.”
Wells, who scored eight goals last term, added: “And we’ve got that competitive edge in the squad.
“Everyone knows they can’t take their foot off the ball when the gaffer’s driving that competitive edge from now.
“In a few weeks all the hard work will come to fruition.”
