Yan-Xia Rogers Called To Bermuda Bar
Carey Olsen associate Yan-Xia Rogers has been called to the Bermuda Bar before Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Bermuda Larry Mussenden.
A spokesperson said, “Five lawyers spoke in support of Yan-Xia’s application to be admitted to the Bermuda Bar, including Carey Olsen partner Kyle Masters who moved the application.
“Yan-Xia was joined by family, friends and colleagues in a courtroom in the Dame Lois Browne Evans Buildings for the proceedings, to whom she attributes her success and believes were her “pillars of strength” during challenging times.”
Ms Rogers commented, “I always intended to pursue a career in law after being inspired by family members who were called to the bar before me, later realising I was drawn to the profession as an intellectually stimulating career path and due to my passion for helping others. My decision did not come as shock to many people, especially my parents, who taught me to never quit. I will forever be indebted to them for their support.”
The spokesperson said, “Yan-Xia also thanked Chief Justice Larry Mussenden and Justice Shadae Subair, who provided her with the opportunity to shadow them during high school and kickstart her legal career.”
Kyle Masters said, “I am proud to have moved Yan-Xia’s application and to have witnessed this key moment in her legal career. Yan-Xia has been a joy to work alongside since she joined the firm earlier this year and undoubtedly has a bright future ahead of her at Carey Olsen.”
Carey Olsen group managing partner in Bermuda, Michael Hanson said, “Congratulations to Yan-Xia on reaching this significant milestone in her legal career. She has proven to be a valued and highly competent member of our corporate team and this achievement reflects her dedication to her legal practice.”
The spokesperson said, “Yan-Xia returned home to Bermuda in January this year to specialise in corporate and commercial law, advising clients on a range of cross-border transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance matters. Yan-Xia previously trained in insurance litigation in regulatory, corporate and product liability at Kennedys Law LLP in London and was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2023.”
