BTA Aims To Boost Canadian Market

The Bermuda Tourism Authority [BTA] continues to “strengthen its commitment to the Canadian market through targeted activations aimed at driving growth in this key source market.

A spokesperson said, “Last week, the BTA partnered with industry partners, Hamilton Princess & Beach Club and BermudAir to promote Bermuda at the Canadian Meetings & Events Expo in Toronto. Billed as Canada’s premier event for meetings and event planners, the Expo was an ideal platform for the BTA to engage with Canadian travel industry professionals and stakeholders.

“During the Expo, the BTA, in collaboration with local partners, hosted a Bermuda Night event at Toronto’s exclusive Soho House. The evening brought together Toronto-based media outlets, travel trade media, and Bermuda tourism stakeholders to explore opportunities for expanding Bermuda’s visitor numbers from Canada. With the recent introduction of BermudAir flights connecting Toronto and Halifax to Bermuda, the BTA is seizing on new opportunities for growth.

“Canada is one of Bermuda’s top three source markets, and the BTA’s presence at the Expo underscores its strategic focus on re-engaging Canadian travelers. Despite a challenging first half of the year, that saw a contraction in air capacity until late Spring, industry partners are optimistic about a rebound. The entry of BermudAir, now providing services from Toronto and Halifax, has generated significant excitement and renewed interest in the destination.”

Kiwan Anderson, Director of Global PR & Brand Partnerships, emphasized the importance of these engagements, “We are here to reinforce our investment in the Canadian market. The arrival of BermudAir has been a positive development, and we are seeing upward movement now with the increased air capacity. Our conversations with travel agents and tour operators are crucial as we adapt to shifting travel behaviors and work to better understand the needs of Canadian travelers.”

The spokesperson said, “The BTA’s efforts in Toronto were prominently featured in Canada Travel Press, a leading trade publication with a readership of over 42,000 Canadian travel professionals. The coverage highlighted the BTA’s strategic initiatives and the growing interest in Bermuda as a premier destination for Canadian travelers.”
