By-Election For Sandys North Set For October 4

The Parliamentary Registry Office announced a By-Election for Constituency 36 Sandys North will be held on October 4th, with the by-election called due to the resignation of Kathy Lightbourne-Simmons.

A Government spokesperson said, “The Parliamentary Registrar, Tenia Woolridge JP, advised that further details will be provided once the Writs of Election have been issued.

“Until such time, voters are encouraged to check to verify that their registration details are up to date, and to ensure their eligibility to vote in the upcoming bye-election.

“For more information on voter registration or the bye-election process, please visit www.elections.gov.bm or contact the Parliamentary Registry Office on 293-VOTE.”

Since the one seat system started in 2003, the PLP have won Constituency 36 Sandys North in all 5 General Elections. In the 2020 General Election, Ms Lightbourne-Simmons won the seat with 59.04% of the vote, the FDM’s Marc Bean was second with 25.34% of the vote and the OBA’s Jeff Sousa was third with 15.62% of the vote.
