Penruddocke Makes Great Start At Olympics
[Written by Stephen Wright]
Bermuda sailor Adriana Penruddocke has made an impressive start to her women’s dinghy campaign at the Olympic Games in Paris today [August 1].
Penruddocke, competing in the ILCA 6 one-design class at the Marseille Marina, a port city in the south of France, showed she can hold her own on the world stage by finishing fourteenth in the first race in a fleet of 43 sailors.
The 24-year-old, who is making her Olympic debut, will compete in three races tomorrow after today’s second race was postponed due to a lack of wind.
Penruddocke told Bernews yesterday before the start of her campaign: “I’m looking forward to putting my best foot forward. Whatever else happens, happens. I’m hoping to learn a lot.
“I’ve been on the water, staying sharp and ready to race.”
