Bermuda Finish Fourth In Pan Am Challenge

The Bermuda women’s national hockey team placed fourth in the Women’s Pan American Challenge after a 2-1 defeat to Guyana at the National Sports Centre yesterday [September 28].

Coach Kovin Moodley’s side took the lead in the third-place play-off match through Georgia Harris in the 23rd minute.

It was Harris’s second goal of the competition.

Madison Fernandes equalised for Guyana in the 32nd minute before Abosaide Cadogan scored the winner in the 51st minute.

Mexico won the gold-medal match after beating Paraguay 4-2 on penalties after the game ended 2-2 in regulation time.

Maribel Acosta scored twice for Mexico; meanwhile, Paraguay’s scorers were Paula Pistilli and Maria Catebra.

Mexico will advance to the Women’s Pan American Cup in Montevideo, Uruguay, next summer.
