Football: PHC Wins 2024 Charity Cup
Pembroke Hamilton Club [PHC] are the 2024/25 Charity Cup Champions after defeating St. George’s Cricket Club [SGCC] by a score of 6-0.
A spokesperson said, “The 2024/25 Charity Cup, presented by Lindo’s, brought excitement and community spirit to the Devonshire Recreation Club on Sunday, September 1. Pembroke Hamilton Club [PHC], the defending Senior Men’s Premier Division champions, secured a dominant 6-0 win over St. George’s Cricket Club [SGCC], the 2023/24 FA Challenge Cup champions.
“The Charity Cup, signals the season start each year with the current FA Cup Champion playing the league champions from the previous season. It also serves a greater purpose beyond the game. Since the inception of the Charity Cup the BFA has made donations to charities throughout Bermuda. In an interesting twist, this year’s match was dedicated to raising funds for charitable and benevolent causes selected by the participating clubs.
“Charity Cup debutants, St Georges Colts chose the St John’s ambulance. A worthy and previous recipient who can be seen at many sporting events volunteering their service. They are a familiar sight at football finals. Eight-time Charity Cup champions, PHC chose their Warwick neighbors, the Eliza DoLittle Society. Society’s mission is to provide healthy and nutritious solutions to the who experience food insecurity in Bermuda with the aim of enhancing their quality of life. The Association hopes this initiative will deepen the positive impact the event has on the community.
“PHC showcased their championship form, with standout performances, securing their 9th Charity Cup Champion title. They were led by 2 goals each from D’andre Wainwright and Kadeem Abraham with single goals from Jaheim Iris, Enrique Russell. The Eliza Dolittle Society will receive a donation from the Association on behalf of PHC as the 2024/25 Charity Cup Champions. The presentation date and time has yet to be determined. Additional information will be provided once finalized.

“The season opener has always provided excitement for fans who have been starved of local football since April. This year we have added a new element that will see a donation, determined by gate receipts, made to The Eliza Do Little Society on behalf of PHC. A great start to the season…. Just the way we like it!”, said BFA President, Mark Wade.
