Nic Narraway Competes In U23 Championship
Nic Narraway faced a challenging day at the UCI World Championships during the U23 road race, a demanding 173.6km event from Uster to Zurich.
A spokesperson said, “Out of 184 starters, Narraway was among the 80 riders who did not finish the race.
“Competing in harsh conditions of pouring rain, strong winds, and hail, the race was marred by numerous crashes. Unfortunately, Narraway’s starting position at the back of the peloton made it difficult to avoid the crashes and move up. A crucial break later split the field, and riders in the second half, including Nic, were unable to regain time, leading to many being pulled from the race by officials for falling more than 10 minutes behind the leader.
“Despite the result, the Bermuda Bicycle Association remains proud of Narraway’s effort and resilience in competing against some of the world’s best under such challenging circumstances.
“Next up, Kaden Hopkins will compete in the UCI World Championships final event, the Elite Road Race on Sunday, September 29.”
