Seafood Festival Cancelled Due To Weather
The Corporation of St. George’s announced the cancellation of the 3rd Annual St. George’s Seafood Festival due to an unfavorable weather forecast.
A spokesperson said, “The Corporation of St. George’s announces the cancellation of the 3rd Annual St. George’s Seafood Festival. Unfortunately, efforts to stage the event are not possible due to the unfavorable weather forecast.”
Mayor Quinell Francis stated, “We are disappointed that we are unable to host the St. George’s Seafood Festival this year. Tremendous efforts have been made by the Corporation team and our partners, the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce, in organizing this event, and we have had the support of many community members and vendors. Unfortunately, the weather forecast does not indicate a dry, sunny day suitable for an outdoor event.”
The spokesperson said, “The Town of St. George’s next big community event is Santa is Coming to Town on December 14th. We look forward to welcoming all the kids and families then.”
“The Seafood Festival was originally scheduled for September 15th, but wet and windy weather forced its postponement to September 22nd. Unfortunately, further unfavorable weather conditions have led to the event’s cancellation.”
Town Manager, Candy-Lee Foggo, added, “It is extremely rare for the Corporation of St. George’s [CSG] to cancel an event. Out of an abundance of caution and concern for public safety, we have decided to cancel the St. George’s Seafood Festival. As this year’s event allowed for the advance purchase of food and drink tickets, any pre-purchased ticket holders will receive a refund directly to their card.
“Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to see you at our future events.”
