September 4, 2024 | 4 Comments

The Ministry of Public Works advised “that there will be a single-lane closure on the Causeway from Wednesday, September 18th, 2024 to Sunday, September 22nd, 2024 to accommodate repair works to the existing masonry wall.”

A Government spokesperson said, “The work will take place between 9:00am and 5:00pm daily.

“Traffic control will be managed with stop/go signs, under the direction of the contractor’s representatives. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution through the work area.

“Any questions or concerns regarding the work should be directed to the contractor’s representative, Mr. Fitzgerald Simmons, at 734-8078.

“The Ministry of Public Works encourages the full cooperation of the public and apologises in advance for any inconvenience that the lane closure may cause.”

Why is the PLP Government suddenly so concerned with maintenance work to our roads and bridges after decades of neglect?

If the causeway were to go down/collapse/become too dangerous to drive on, how would cars, taxis, buses, and trucks go back and forth to the airport? All those tourists and business people would be unhappy. How would Mr. Big get to the airport on time for his global junkets doing the people’s business?
