Glasgow To Host Commonwealth Games In 2026
Bermuda’s athletes will be hoping their sports are included in a scaled-down Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2026.
The Scottish government has backed a deal to host the international sporting event after Victoria in Australia, the planned 2026 hosts, backed out because of the rising costs.
Australian authorities have promised “a multi-million-pound investment” to help Glasgow host the Games.
Due to a lack of time and funding, some sports will be dropped from the multi-sport event.
A team of 17 athletes competed at the previous Games in Birmingham, England, where Dame Flory Duffy won the gold medal in the women’s triathlon and Jah-Nhai Perinchief claimed bronze in the men’s triple jump.
Glasgow previously hosted the Games in 2014.
