Video: Wells Nets Winner From Penalty Spot
Nahki Wells scored his first goal of the season after converting a penalty to earn Bristol City a 2-1 home win against Oxford United in the Sky Bet Championship today [September 21].
The Bermudian forward came on as a 65th-minute substitute and netted the winner from the spot in the 76th minute.
United took the lead through Ruben Rodrigues in the first half and went into the break with a one-goal advantage.
Sinclair Armstrong levelled 12 minutes into the second period before Wells wrapped up the three points for City.
“[Scoring] is the best part of the game, having an impact and scoring a goal that means so much for us,” Wells told Bristol City’s social media. “It was a rewarding moment.”
Wells, 34, said he hopes City can build on their second home victory of the campaign.
“It was a relatively good performance, more so in the second half,” he added.
“This is our home, our fortress; it’s important to pick up as many points as possible and build something. Today, we were able to do that.”
