Kenni Thompson Returns From Knee Injury

Fit-again Kenni Thompson returned to action in AFC Bournemouth Women’s 4-0 win away to Abingdon United Women in the National League Division One South West yesterday [September 22].

Thompson missed the first few matches of the season after picking up a knee injury while on international duty with the Bermuda women’s national team in July.

The winger, who joined Bournemouth from Spanish side Eibar in January, came on as a 65th-minute substitute against Abington.

She said she was relieved her injury did not keep her on the sidelines for too long.

“I was definitely on edge waiting on the [scan] result. It felt like for ever waiting for them to come back,” Thompson told AFC Bournemouth Women’s social media.

“I guess you always think of the worst possible scenarios. When the news came in, and it turned out to be six weeks and not six months, it felt like everything to me.

“That would have been a very difficult process. I was happy I didn’t have to do that and could get back as quickly.”

AFC Bournemouth Women are second in the table after five successive victories.
