Blake Montgomery Scores Winner For Stars
Bermudian ice hockey player Blake Montgomery produced a scintillating display for the Lincoln Stars, scoring the overtime winner in their 5-4 win at home to the Green Bay Gamblers on Sunday [September 29].
Montgomery, who was drafted by National Hockey League [NHL] team the Ottawa Senators in June, scored twice and was voted the Tog Dog of the Game.
The 19-year-old dashed in alone on a breakaway and scored 2min 24sec into overtime to secure victory for the Stars – a junior team in the United States Hockey League [USHL].
Montgomery, a 6ft 4in power winger, will play college hockey at Wisconsin, an NCAA Division I programme in the Big Ten Conference next year.
