October 7, 2024 | 1 Comment

The Department of Parks is advising the public that high surf signs have been posted along South Shore beaches and public parks in light of “rough sea conditions.”

A Government spokesperson said, “The Department of Parks is advising the public that, due to rough sea conditions, high surf signs have been posted along the South Shore beaches and public parks.

“As a public safety precaution, residents and visitors who plan to visit the beach or enter the ocean are strongly urged to avoid swimming in these conditions or exercise extreme caution. Unsettled ocean currents and dangerous rip tides pose significant risks.

“Please be aware that no lifeguards are on duty this week at Horseshoe Bay Beach. The Department of Parks urges all beachgoers to prioritise safety by adhering to posted warnings and staying informed about current conditions.”

No lifeguards, but cruise ships are in. Will the passengers be told not to venture into the water, or will Bermuda have another death(s) from lack of safety measures? Clearly the PLP have decided a balanced budget is better than a few thousand dollars spent on lifeguards. Should make a sign that Bermuda is closed for tourists, stay away for your own safety.
