The Anglican Parish of St. George hosted the Blessing of the Animals ceremony at the Unfinished Church in St George’s yesterday [Oct 6].
The blessing of pets and animals is celebrated on October 4 or on a Sunday near that date; people all over the world celebrate the feast day of the Patron Saint of Animals, Saint Francis of Assisi.
In remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures, animals are led to churches for a special ceremony called the Blessing of the Animals.
