De’ari Trott Enjoys Year To Remember
[Written by Stephen Wright]
Promising footballer De’ari Trott has enjoyed a year to remember after shining at several overseas tournaments for club and country.
Trott was the second-youngest player in the Bermuda Under-14 national team at the Caribbean Football Union [CFU] Challenge Series Qualifier in Trinidad and Tobago in August.
Starting the first two of three group matches, he was sidelined by a slight injury before Bermuda’s 6-0 semi-final victory over Anguilla.
However, he made a swift recovery and returned as a second-half substitute in the final against Barbados, which ended in a heartbreaking 4-3 loss for Bermuda on penalties.
Reflecting on the experience, the left-back, who plays for FC Bascome Under-13 and Under-15 teams, said: “It was a great experience to gain that exposure and see how I compared to other players in the region.
“Our team is a tight-knit group — we’re like a family.”
A student at Warwick Academy, Trott attributes much of his development to his Bermuda Under-14 coaches, including head coach Vashun Blanchette, Leo Burgess of the LB Football Academy and Andrew Bascome.
“Leo has helped with my technical abilities, footwork, and skills,” Trott said.
“He’s made me more attack minded. Coach Andrew has helped improve my mindset and develop my overall game.
“All my coaches have helped enhance my game and bring me up to the speed of play required at this level.”
On the field, Trott’s attributes are clear: “Passing is my strength — both long and short, as well as set pieces,” he said. “I also have some pace.
“I need to work on my positioning and awareness on the field and linking up with my team-mates.”
Trott’s accomplishments stretch far beyond Bermuda.
This year alone, he helped FC Bascome’s Under-13 team win the boys’ Legacy Division at the USL Academy Cup in Florida in March.
He was also part of the International Development Academy-Bermuda Under-13 team that claimed the Minor Division Vase Championship at the Super Cup NI in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in July.
“It’s nice to know I have proven myself in Bermuda and on the international front,” Trott added.
Well done cousin keep you the great work!
Big Up, Big Up, Big Up D! Well done, onwards and upwards young Warrior!
