Jones & West Aim For Flawless Play On Day 2
[Written by Kim Swan]
Nick Jones and Eric West are both mindful that they played well enough to be within the cut line – save and except for costly intermittent lapses – that leaves them both having to play flawless for their next 21 holes to have a realistic chance of making the cut.
Nick Jones was positioned well after his first 9 holes with birdies at 17 and 18 – a fabulous 2nd shot into the 18th brought the gallery to their feet and his birdie capped a solid front nine of 34 [-1]. Sadly a string of four bogies over the next holes has Nick reeling.
Amateur Eric West is also at +3 with four holes left to play. Eric started well but a disastrous triple bogey seven on hole # 14 which was his 5th hole of the day provided a major stumbling block.
Thankfully Eric has steadied the ship and when play resumes at 7am on day two he faces a birdie.
The good news for the Bermuda Trio is that only an outstanding second in the way of playing the weekend- they have everything to play for on day 2.
