PLP Statement On Reply To Throne Speech
The PLP release the statement in advance of the official Opposition’s Reply to the Throne Speech.
A spokesperson said, “As the One Bermuda Alliance prepares to deliver their official response to the Throne Speech tomorrow, the Progressive Labour Party wants to remind Bermudians what we stand for—and what they can expect from the OBA.
“The OBA has repeatedly criticised and sought to tear down the PLP without offering real, constructive solutions that reflect the values of Bermudians who believe in fairness, progress, and opportunity for all. Tomorrow’s response is likely to follow the same pattern: empty rhetoric that sows division and mistrust, rather than presenting ideas that would genuinely lift up our people.
“While the PLP has worked hard to deliver tangible policies like expanded healthcare, job training, and support for our youth—initiatives that will build a fairer Bermuda for all of us, The OBA has repeatedly failed to stand for these goals.
“Tomorrow, as they respond to a Throne Speech centered on “A Fairer Bermuda for All,” we expect the OBA will do what they always do: question the government’s commitment to fairness, undermine our efforts to close income gaps, and disregard the progress we are making to ensure that everyone—not just a privileged few—has a chance to succeed.
“Make no mistake: their attacks are not about creating a fairer, better Bermuda. They are about clinging to the same outdated policies and privileged perspectives that have failed our people time and again.
“We encourage everyone who believes in a fairer Bermuda for all of us, to keep their eyes open tomorrow. As the OBA once again tries to sell its divisive tactics as “leadership,” ask yourself who is truly standing up for you, for your family, and for the future of our island?
“We are confident that the people of Bermuda see through the OBA’s empty words, and will not be swayed by tactics meant to distract from the real work at hand. Together, we are making steady progress towards a fairer Bermuda for all—not just in words, but in action.
“Let’s stay focused on moving forward, and not be drawn back by those who refuse to join us in the fight for a fairer Bermuda.”
