Royal Bermuda Regiment Open Day On Nov 16
The Royal Bermuda Regiment invites residents to its Open Day on November 16th.
A Government spokesperson said, “Residents are invited to learn more about the Royal Bermuda Regiment and try on soldiering when the unit holds an open day on November 16.
“The event is designed to help guests gain a deeper understanding of the battalion and its work, without any expectation of commitment.”
Major Dwight Robinson, the Regimental Career Management Officer, explains: “The overall aim of the open day is to provide an opportunity for members of the community who may have a curiosity about joining the Regiment to have a look at what we do without any sense of obligation or pressure.
“They will be provided a chance to learn about the Regiment generally, take a tour of Warwick Camp and the surrounding work areas, and observe some of our troops undertaking training.
“Opportunities to interact with troops and ask questions about options for service will be provided.”
A Government spokesperson added, “Although the event is primarily geared towards people aged 18 to 32, anyone aged up to 52 can enlist and is welcome to attend.
“The men and women who serve in the Regiment are mostly reservists and drawn from across Bermuda’s communities, prepared to serve the needs of the island in routine matters as well as times of emergency.
“Adults who are legally resident in Bermuda are encouraged to attend the open day, which will run from 9am until about 1pm, with lunch provided.”
Maj Robinson adds: “The Regiment works to the direction of the Commander-in-Chief and serves all of Bermuda.
“Participants should thus be service minded with a desire for personal and professional development, teamwork and community betterment.
“Interested persons should be of physical fitness, prepared to challenge themselves, and to be challenged, physically and mentally, and have a mindset for continuous improvement.”
A Government spokesperson added, “Early registration for the event is encouraged and inquiries can be directed to Corporal Vanderpool on 238-1045 or at rbr.recruiting@gov.bm.
“Another open day is scheduled to run on November 30.”
