Last week Saltus reached a significant milestone in their implementation of the British Columbia [BC] Curriculum, becoming a fully-certified BC Offshore School.

A spokesperson said, “Two inspectors from the British Columbia Ministry of Education, Bob Esliger and Laurie Anderson, and the school’s BC Offshore School Representative, Rob Comeau were on site for Saltus’ inaugural inspection. The purpose of this inspection was to conduct a thorough review of all aspects of the BC Curriculum implementation and the administration of the school’s daily operations.

“Over the course of three days, the inspectors visited classrooms, reviewed curricular planning, met with the Saltus Leadership Team, connected with parents, and held discussions with students, teachers, and the Board Chair, Mr. E. Michael Leverock. This inspection represents the final step in the BC Offshore School certification process, reaffirming Saltus’ commitment to providing a rigorous and engaging academic and co-curricular programme that aligns with international educational standards.

“The BC Curriculum, a programme that has achieved global recognition, helps students build critical thinking, problem-solving, and important future-ready skills. Its approach focuses on personal growth and prepares students for success in school, life, and future opportunities worldwide.

Saltus and the BC Curriculum

The spokesperson said, “Saltus began offering the BC Curriculum from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 9 this academic school year. The programme will continue to progress incrementally to the senior grades each subsequent year. Graduates in the 2027-28 school year will be the first to be awarded the British Columbia Dogwood Diploma, a graduation diploma recognized at top universities worldwide.

“Saltus will continue to offer its signature Reggio-inspired programme at the Lower Primary and Advanced Placement [AP] Courses for Senior students on their path to graduation. These programmes effectively complement the BC Curriculum and provide a strong continuity of learning. Until the BC Curriculum is fully transitioned to all year levels, the school will continue to offer a rigorous [i]GCSE and SGY programme for its senior students and support them through to successful graduation.

“The BC Curriculum is an internationally recognised programme that has consistently ranked as one of the top ten curricula offered globally. The BC Curriculum is one that enables and supports personalised learning, through quality teaching and learning, flexibility of choice, and high academic standards. Additionally, the BC curriculum has been successfully adopted by 35 offshore schools in 12 countries worldwide. In choosing this curriculum, Saltus will join international and independent schools around the world in becoming a certified BC Offshore School and awarding its students the Dogwood Diploma upon graduation.
