Dates Confirmed For 2027 Pan Am Games
The Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, will be held from July 16 to August 1, 2027, the Panam Sports Executive Board has confirmed.
The executive board met last week in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, to decide the date.
There were three proposals from the Peruvian government on the table. They were willing to organise the Games in May, July or September.
“There were several factors to consider before determining the best date for the Games,” said the president of Panam Sports, Neven Ilic.
“The proposals were analysed and finally, the entire Executive Board decided that it would be best to hold them in the month of July for several reasons, but perhaps the most important is that on that date we will be able to have the best athletes of the continent participating in Lima.”
Lima will host the Pan Am Games for the second time, after the event in 2019.
The Peruvian capital will become the third city in the Americas to host the continental multi-sport event for a second time after Mexico City [1955 and 1975] and Winnipeg [1967 and 1999].
Bermuda sent a team of 11 athletes to the previous Pan Am Games in Santiago, Chile, last year.
