Donna Raynor Hails Success Of Symposium
Several top Bermudian female athletes shared their inspiring stories during the Girls Sport Symposium at the HSBC Bank on Front Street on Friday [November 8].
The event was dedicated to supporting and inspiring the next generation of female athletes on the island, with a particular focus on keeping girls engaged in sports.
The symposium featured a distinguished panel of athletes, who attended in person and virtually: Natasha Trott [football], Caitlyn Bobb [athletics], Jessica Lewis [para-athletics], Erica Hawley [triathlon], Emma Harvey [swimming], Adriana Penruddocke [sailing], Yushae Desilva-Andrade [boccia], and Jaden Masters [football].
Caitlin Conyers, the island’s most decorated female cyclist, facilitated the event, leading conversations that highlighted the panellists’ experiences, challenges, and successes.
Donna Raynor, Chair of the Bermuda Olympic Association’s Women in Sport Committee, was thrilled by the impact of the event.
“What a fantastic night we had with the young Girls in Sport Symposium,” Raynor wrote on social media.
“We had 32 young ladies who asked questions and were involved.
“A great night for all. Great food and great company. Thank you, Butterfield and Vallis for the sponsored drinks.”
